pretty much the way i see it too. a lot of evil seeks power, but im good and look to attain a great deal of power.

that's just your definition of good an evil though, innit? can't a world work without the very concept of a good side and a bad side?

why do people apply a binary paradigm to something that has a complexity that makes advanced calculus look like taking a fart in a bath?

so we talking defining evil and good by intent or by action? which takes more precedence? if the action is evil but the intent was good..which describes the situation overall?

is evil defined by being self serving? but what if serving one's self(CAKE! nom) serves to benefit others?

what about taking the "tough love" approach to someone? a parent kicking their kid out to get a message across...gag...this sort of mental mushing makes my brain ooze...i need to drink a zombie and get back to you...

that's kind of what i was getting at in a "i just woke up after several rounds of brew the previous night" kind of way.

It's a continuum. Like the electromagnetic spectrum. Red is different from orange, but the dividing line is only an opinion.

good and evil are highly subjective and mostly founded in the self interest of the defining person or group.  to reach a conclusion as to objective morality would be a monumentally impossible task.

i kind of think in of it in terms of Low Impact vs High Impact.

having a low impact in a negative sense is good, having a high impact in a positive sense is good.  and there are degrees and variations of both.

the fact there's many shades of grey between black and white doesn't mean that black equates white
likewise for good and evil - there's a clear distinction even if in many cases there's a load of halfway houses
