I wonder who told her that she had IBS... Both parties are equally ridiculous. A woman who can't tell she's pregnant either knows nothing about how the female body works, has an IQ below average, or has some sort of deficiency preventing her from noticing, and a doctor (assuming it was a doctor) should be able to tell the difference between IBS and pregnancy. I mean, common!

probably though "right, if i keep very still she'LL think it's just her gaining weight along with a several months lasting indigestion"...

maybe she was so bad at describing her symptoms that the GP never thought of doing a simple pregnancy check

That's some achievement... It should fit under my "IQ below average" suggestion.

Woman: "I have some strange irritating and 'blown up' feeling in my gut, and I don't... uuh.. poop alot."

Doctor: "It's like a constipated feeling then?"

Woman (don't know what constipated even mean): "Um... Yes. I think so, yes."

Doctor: *Writes down IBS as a possible cause*

mind you people can be rather vague with their complaints, like "my knee hurts" without specifying whether it's like a muscle pain, or the tendons or the joints
likewise, when people say "i have a funny tummy" or "i have a pain in my stomach", it can cover a pretty broad area between the lungs and the legs, and if described badly could be just about anything

mind you, if a baby is kicking surely you know that a woman is not just 3 months pregnant, as was the diagnosis only a few hours before she gave birth

They should have found out at least a few days before that.....
Once I opened my eyes, I finally started to see.

how can she even be a porper mother without having been able ter get used ter the idea? i mean that's just like unexpectedly getting a letter containing either a million quid or a bomb, depending on wether you like children. you'd be so baffeled you wouldn't even notice when the kid screams, wouldya?
